What "free" actually means here
Easy Teleprompter doesn't gate the core features behind a paywall or a trial period. Open the site, upload a PDF, DOCX, TXT, or Markdown file — or paste text directly — and you're reading in fullscreen within seconds. There's no account to create and no watermark on what you read. Scroll speed, font size, and line height are all adjustable from the control bar, and your settings are remembered between sessions.
Why it can stay free
Most of the work happens locally in your browser — parsing a PDF or DOCX, extracting the text, and rendering the scroll all run on your device rather than a server that has to process and store every document. That keeps hosting costs down and your files private, since nothing needs to be uploaded just to run the teleprompter.
